One of the school's most reliable and one of our first online tutors, Naomi is an experienced professional who has taught language learners in a range of countries including America, France, Italy and the UK to mention a few.

Always leading by example, Naomi has managed and trained teachers, created resources and material and extensively supported British Community's online growth.

We are very proud and honoured to have such a teacher in our team.

Why did you decide to become a teacher?

I have wanted to be a teacher since I was around 5 years old. I had many teachers in my family and so it seemed like a natural job for me. I am lucky to be able to do the job I dreamed of as a child!

Which is your preferred age group / course to teach and why?

I like all age groups, each has their own unique and fun elements. I enjoy connecting with my students and building relationships with them and this can happen at any age!

"Learning a new language can be scary and students are afraid to speak...
but that with practice and time it will become easier."

Tell us a funny moment you've had in class.

When teaching body parts to a group of 6 year olds, one over excited boy tried to pull down his trousers to show me a part so I quickly stopped him!!

What do students find most difficult and how do you help them?

I think a lot of students, especially adults, struggle with confidence. Learning a new language can be scary and students are afraid to speak because they are afraid of making mistakes. I like to reassure my students that this is totally natural, and explain my own fears when trying to speak another language...but that with practice and time it will become easier. I provide my students with a stress and judgement free space to practice English and the support they need to go into the world and communicate without fear.

What do your students love most about your classes?

I try add some personal elements into my classes, to learn about my students and take an interest in their lives as well as sharing my own with them. In this way, we can communicate in English together using real life stories and examples and have fun doing it.
